Layer 3 switching

Layer 3 switching protocols make it possible to manage a network using subnets. Switching is a way to move data at high speeds, leveraging hardware ASIC where possible. Routing done with hardware acceleration yields layer 3 switching, one of the most important, radical changes in networking in many years.
