Fibre Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)

A local area network based on a backbone of dual counter-rotating 100 Mbps fibre optic rings. One of the rings is normally designated as the primary ring; the other is the secondary ring. The dual ring is connected to single-attached "slave" rings through concentrators.
